Frequently Asked Questions

Q: WHY SHOULD WE HIRE AN OUTSIDE CONSULTING COMPANY TO HANDLE CARRIER CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS WHEN WE HAVE INTERNAL EMPLOYEES TO HANDLE IT?

A: Three primary reasons:
1. Expertise: For over 10 years, Navigo has leveraged 50 years of parcel negotiation and rate benchmarking experience to provide deeper discounts and better service from its client's incumbent carriers. Moreover, Navigo leverages that knowledge to negotiate superior contracts and pricing than most organizations can achieve on their own.
2. Time Savings: Most companies cannot dedicate the hundreds of hours that are required to generate the best pricing and carrier services (data collection & analysis, vendor meetings, RFP's, evaluations, negotiations, etc.). By outsourcing carrier contract negotiations to Navigo, your organization saves hundreds of hours in labor costs without sacrificing resources or other priorities.
3. Guaranteed Results: As a contingency-based service, there are no upfront costs, and our process requires little time commitment on your part. We do all the work necessary to identify and capture savings, and we're paid a percentage of actual, verifiable implemented savings. Our approach is straightforward: either we save you money, or we aren't paid.

Q: HOW CAN WE BE SURE NAVIGO'S INVOLVEMENT WON'T ADVERSELY IMPACT OUR CARRIER RELATIONSHIPS?

A: Navigo has been recognized for its collaborative approach with the carriers. Navigo's involvement typically enhances the carrier relationship because we educate the carriers on the customer needs and expectations, and the customer on carrier capabilities. Moreover, the carriers benefit through high-level contact and visibility within the customer account, as well as by gaining additional business and long-term contracts.

Q: WE'RE GENERALLY HAPPY WITH OUR CURRENT CARRIER PROGRAM AND FEEL THAT OUR CURRENT RATES ARE AMONG THE BEST IN THE INDUSTRY.

A: Frankly, nearly every one of Navigo's clients has made that statement, and is surprised when they find out the degree to which they had been overpaying the carriers prior to our engagement. Without industry and benchmarking expertise, it is very unlikely that your company enjoys best-in-class pricing. At a minimum, Navigo's market assessment will validate your current program.

Q: HOW ARE SAVINGS CALCULATED AND HOW DOES NAVIGO GET PAID?

A: We receive electronic copies of your current carrier invoices which enables our billing software to produce an exact historical cost for every single shipment based on service level, zone, weight and accessorial charges. Savings represents the difference between your newly negotiated rate and what your rate would have been under your old contract.

Q: ARE OTHER COMPENSATION ARRANGEMENTS AVAILABLE OTHER THAN CONTINGENCY?

A: Yes. Navigo is open to fee-for-project, bonus incentives and other types of compensation to meet your requirements.

Q: HOW DOES NAVIGO COST JUSTIFY ITS FEE?

A: The bottom line is that Navigo produces incremental savings above and beyond existing discounts. Chances are your current carrier contract reflects the best discounts your organization was able to achieve on its own. Since we do all of the work upfront without any compensation, Navigo takes on 100% of the risk. You have nothing to lose, as our compensation is derived exclusively from the verifiable cost savings we generate. Since 1995, Navigo has saved its clients' millions of dollars, consistently achieving incremental savings of 20%-40%.

Q: DOES NAVIGO RECEIVE ANY 'KICK-BACKS' FROM THE CARRIERS AND/OR HAVE A PREFERENCE TO ANY SINGLE CARRIER?

A: Absolutely not. Any savings or additional discounts Navigo negotiates from the carriers are passed on directly to our clients. We never receive any compensation from a carrier and are totally carrier-neutral. Moreover, our clients make the final decision as to which carrier program to implement.

Q: BEFORE WE SIGN A CONTRACT WITH NAVIGO, WHAT'S TO PREVENT US FROM GOING TO THE CARRIERS ONE LAST TIME IN AN EFFORT TO GENERATE ADDITIONAL SAVINGS?

A: While you may be able to produce some additional savings, you will sacrifice the opportunity to achieve greater savings by locking the carriers into their initial response. Navigo uses our benchmarking ability and collaborative approach to request targeted rate responses from the carriers. Not only does this approach maximize savings, but also it allows the carriers to offer their best pricing upfront. Remember, it is the carrier representative's job to handle your shipments at the highest possible price and profit margins.

Q: WHAT HAPPENS AT THE CONCLUSION OF OUR AGREEMENT TERM?

A: Once Navigo's contingency term has expired, your organization will receive 100% of the savings. Navigo's services are also available should you elect to reengage.

Q: WHAT OTHER COMPANIES HAVE BENEFITED FROM NAVIGO'S SERVICES?

A: Since 1995, hundreds of companies of all sizes and industries have utilized Navigo's services Our clients include both Mid-Sized Enterprises (MSE's) as well as Fortune 500 companies in diverse industries such as financial services, manufacturing, distribution, entertainment, automotive, healthcare, and professional services. More than likely, Navigo can provide you with references within your own industry.
